Current Favourites

At last Autumn is here! In a matter of a week we've dusted off our ankle boots, lit autumnal candles and donned chunky scarves. Finally our favourite time of year has arrived and we can't wait to extend our autumn/winter wardrobes.

In today's post we are gushing about Emily Blunt's November cover for Vogue. Not only does one of our favourite actresses look absolutely beautiful in the magazine, the colour scheme is warm and epitomises everything autumnal.

Film Favourites

After signing up to cineworld unlimited we have been visiting the cinema sometimes twice a week to see the latest films. Recently we have really loved The Magnificent 7 (a remake of the western classic) starring Chris Pratt and Denzel Washington, Bridget Jones' baby (we dare you not to laugh, it was bloody brilliant) and Girl on the train (based on the best selling novel) starring the terrifyingly brilliant Emily Blunt.

Beauty Favourites

If truth be told we are in serious need of trip to boots and a makeup bag update. Despite this, we have been really loving the nude colour riche lipstick's by L'oreal in Eva and JLo's shades. The formula of these lipsticks are incredibly comfortable to wear and are surprisingly long lasting considering the price point. Eva's nude is a little peachier while JLo's is a very light pinky nude, both look great with either minimal, natural makeup or paired with a smokey eye for the evening.

Fashion Favourites

I'm sure we're not alone when we explain how comfortable these or any Nike trainers are to wear. Not only do they feel like you are walking on a cloud but they also look great with pretty much anything from day to day. As far as casual goes we have also been loving this Kaki bomber jacket from Zara which we bought over the summer and has transitioned perfectly into Autumn.

We decided to dip our toes into the Victoriana trend with this ruffled white blouse from New Look. The subtle detailing makes it an easy to wear piece which can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion. We've also been loving these acne inspired pointed black ankle boots which we picked up in the H&M sale. We're currently on the look out for a pair of either printed or textured boots however it's always essential to have a black pair for the autumn months as they're so versatile. The decorated cross body bag was bought last christmas from Zara but it continues to be a fashion favourite all year round.

Seasonal Favourites

Autumn/Winter is the ideal season to stock up on candles and diffusers to accentuate the feeling of being warm and toasty on a chilly day inside. We are on a mission to hit the yankee candle store at cheshire oaks shortly as we are craving Red apple wreath for it's cinnamon-y goodness however in the mean time we have been pleasantly surprised by Primark's Clementine and Honey candle which is packaged in a jar and is said to burn for 40 hours which is great news as it smells so seasonal and delicious. Secondly, we have absolutely been loving Calvin Klein's Euphoria perfume which has been  a signature scent of ours for about seven years now and is still a firm favourite. The perfume is especially nice in winter as it has a more mature scent as opposed to a fruity, youthful scent like our summer favourite Marc Jacobs Honey.

Hope you enjoyed reading about our current favourites, we'll be back soon with another post but in the meantime keep in touch with us through our social media

Glasses Haul - Eye Buy Direct

I must admit we have always been sceptical about ordering prescription glasses online. There's a lack of communication and care associated with turning to an online retailer, instead of visiting your local opticians, however we are so glad to have stumbled across Eyebuydirect. This post is not in any way sponsored but we were so happy with our new eyewear we had to share our latest glasses haul experience on the blog.

Not only does the website offer a wide variety of prescription glasses in various shapes, material, colour and features, the frames are also set at affordable price points which rival that of the high street opticians. After signing up to the website we received a 2 for 1 offer on all glasses and free delivery which was just too good to turn down.

"Wearing the same glasses every day is like wearing the same shoes every day"

Eyebuydirect has a very useful try on feature which allows you to upload a selfie and digitally try on the various styles of eyewear. This tool was incredibly useful as we quickly learnt what does and doesn't suit us which ultimately allowed us to feel confident about proceeding to the checkout.

We have fallen head over heels for the monochrome/tortoiseshell glasses. These large, round specs make a statement without being too garish and pretty much go with everything. Our favourite way to style the eyewear is formally with a crisp white shirt, trousers and a slick of red lipstick and casually with a simple pink sweater and jeans combo. It's great to find a pair of glasses which add a pop of interest to any outfit.

If like us you are tired of thick black frames and are looking for a classic alternative then a pair of dark red specs could be for you too. The almost burgundy shade flatters the face as its not harsh against the rest of your features and it also adds a subtle pop of colour which perks up any monochrome outfit. Our favourite way to wear these glasses is with a basic roll neck and statement skirt which keeps things fun, and a little dare we say, Jessica Day "Quirky".

Thank you so much for reading, we hope this post has changed the way you SEE... prescription glasses shopping! Terrible joke... just terrible...

We're still trying to get over the post Christmas blues, so while we struggle to pull ourselves away from sky christmas movies and the quality street tin here's a post dedicated to celebrity glasses wearers who always seem to look cool and effortless in their spectacles, because why not!

Life is short - wear sequins

***12 days until Christmas***

(Images: Topshop, background: Pinterest)

As its the start of the christmas party season, it's only fitting that we talk sequins, glitter and anything that remotely sparkles. Christmas and NYE parties offer the perfect opportunity for the brave hearted to wear head to toe sequins and for the slightly more reserved to inject some glitter through their accessories. We've put together some of our favourite sequinned pieces from our go - to online stores, each item embracing the sequin trend in a different way. Whether you want to stand out in a statement, turquoise, sequinned bomber jacket or give the trend a subtle nod with a colourfully decorated clutch bag, it is completely up to you and your sparkle preferences. Personally, we can't wait to get decked out like christmas trees and get our sparkle on - oh yes, we went there.

We don't want to make excuses... however... due to heavy work loads at university the blog has most definitely been neglected. To make up for our absence recently, we've decided to upload a new blog post everyday for the next 12 days until christmas! We realise it's going to be a challenge however it's also a really exciting way to experiment with new blog post ideas and to have a little fun during this festive period!

Top 10 most stylish men

(images: pinterest)
What can we say, Becks was a no brainer for the most stylish list! VB is not the only fashion icon in this family, from perfectly tailored suits to chunky jumpers and biker boots David Beckham always gets it right. Whether he has little Harper in his arms or not Becks is the ultimate 'daddy cool'.

(images: pinterest)
That Vivienne Westwood hat caused a stir on the red carpet but this fashion forward man wore this fashion staple with pride. His happy collection for Adidas trainers came in a rainbow of statement colours and represented his fearlessness towards fashion. Lastly, Pharell + Cara Delevigne + Chanel = wow.
(images: pinterest)
Mr Bay rivals Pharell in the hat stakes as he is rarely ever seen without one resting on his beautiful head of hair. James's wardrobe staples, leather jackets and skinny jeans, always look classic and effortless. This guy knows what work's for him and he sticks to it, just like his beautiful music it's consistently impressive.
(images: pinterest)
This man knows how to work a pair of loafers! If you're not already then you should probably follow Reggie's Instagram for regular and impressive footwear of the day pics! He recently announced his collaboration with Burton which we're sure will be a reflection of his cool, urban aesthetic.

(images: pinterest)
It's all in the name really, whether you're a fan of his music or not there's no denying Harry knows how to rock his individual style. He's not afraid to take risks, he looks great with a man bun, and he completely deserves his place on the frow at fashion week.

(images: pinterest)
Rough around the edges Tom is wonderfully rugged and we can't get enough of his beard. We couldn't feature Tom in this list without a picture of him and his most fond accessory, his dog. Think large collars, Shearling aviator jackets and biker boots and you've got Tom's style covered.

(images: pinterest)
Gandy leads the way of the old, classic gentleman look with a modern edge. He wears a suit like nobody else in the industry and once said if he could wear one everyday he would. We were tempted to include an image from that iconic Dolce & Gabanna campaign however the lack of clothing left us little to discuss regarding fashion, so we contained our admiration for another time..
(images: pinterest)
Friends with the A-list fash pack including Alexa Chung, Daisy Lowe and Pixie Geldof, to name a few, Nick Grimshaw was bound to develop a great style. The newly appointed X Factor Judge and Radio 1 presenter has always had a quirky sense of style which matches his infectious personality.

(images: pinterest)
This star is not afraid to experiment which is reflected through his edgy style of music and his bold fashion sense. Tinie is hardly ever seen without those statement thick framed glasses and a sharp suit - bringing geek chic into the urban music world.

(images: pinterest)
We fell in love with Ryan after watching the notebook and cinema has only ever got better for us since we discovered this man. The new father's paired down style is causal and comfortable, think basic t-shirts and jackets with perfectly quaffed hair.

*Honorary style icon*
(images: pinterest)
No he's not a man yet but little Prince George already has the world talking about his fashion choices and he's not even 3 years old! Blazing a trail in the toddler fashion stakes, that Cath Kidson soldier vest he was pictured wearing sold out almost instantly, proving his influence! Lastly just look at that adorable face, we have high hopes for this royal!

Thanks for reading! We've not been posting as regular recently due to busy work schedules but we hope you are all having a fab summer!

The Holiday Look Book

"If we took a holiday
Took some time to celebrate
Just one day out of life
It would be, it would be so nice"
- Madonna, Holiday

Preach it Queen Madonna. We don't know about you but whenever we hear we're going on holiday after the first question of "where is the nearest beach?" Our next one is always "OMG what are we going to pack in our holiday suitcases?". After countless wardrobe rummages and sale stalking the outfit decisions were made and the lucky pieces that made the cut were on their way to Albuferia, South Portugal. Think bold prints and bright colours. Keep scrolling for our fave holiday looks!

BLOOMING LOVELY

There is no denying that this flirty and fun dress is perfect for this season (courtesy of GingerFizz @ASOS). Bright pink floral print looks great against the navy canvas and is really flattering as it creates a panel down the middle of the body. The revealing cut outs at the back add an edge that contrasts with the high neck at the front. The back also gives you the perfect excuse to wear a chic ponytail to show off the detailing.

FEELING GREEN

This delightful mint green number ticks all the boxes from our easter style guide. As it’s floaty it was peeeerfect for the amount of carbs consumed on the beach that night, and paired with these trusted white New Look sandals and a light denim jacket, it’s a recipe for spring/summer success. As for make-up, an injection of ‘bubblegum pink’ compliments the fresh mint hue for an on point colour combo for this season. What we also love about this colour is that it is flattering on all skin tones, whether you’re an ‘English Rose’, ‘Olive Toned', or even ‘Burnt like a Lobster’, (similar to one-half of TurnerTurner above) a bright pink projects summer vibes.

WORKING LACE AND PRINT

Mixing textures can sometimes be a daunting task, it all depends on the separates you have in your wardrobe of course. However we have found a reliable partnership between a classic white lace skirt and this mixed leaf print crop top because they contrast effectively, creating a subtle boldness. A skater skirt is really easy to wear on holiday and the lace material of this skirt keeps things lightweight to suit the smoking hot climate. This ensemble looked 'beaut' against the stunning background of Albufeira Old Town beach.

MELLOW YELLOW

For a casual evening abroad you cannot go far wrong with a pair of printed trousers, especially in these lush tones of blues (clearly chosen to reflect the beautiful Atlantic Ocean of Portugal). On top of these £9.99 bargain beauties (courtesy of New Look) a sunshine yellow tank top has been added for some holiday cheerfulness, and to hopefully emphasise a sister’s attempt at a tan. Yellow is everywhere on the high street at the moment, we think this scallop trim cami is a great way of injecting it into your wardrobe. Reflecting back, the combo provides an ideal summer vibe.

Style Guide: Jump to it!

You may think that jumpsuits should only be graced by the long limbed and glamorous as they often appear quite intimidating on the clothes rails in stores. Sometimes the length of material panics us as we need this garment in particular to flatter us in all the right places! In reality until you take a jumpsuit to the changing room you'll never know if they suit you or not, it's the same as any piece of clothing in your wardrobe! We've put together a style guide of our favourite jumpsuits from our own wardrobes just to give you an idea of the different styles that are out there and how we choose to wear them! It was also a beautiful day and we couldn't resist going outside to soak up the sun, it doesn't make an appearance all too often in Britain so like the rest of the country we like to make the most of it!

Jumpsuit 1 - New Look, £19.99

As every girl knows you can never go wrong with black. It's flattering on curves and this one in particular pulls in a bit at the waist which creates that khloe kardashian silhouette that we know and love! Paired with this oriental printed kimono jacket, a classic watch and chunky sandals this simple jumpsuit is updated for spring and can be adjusted according to the season! This whole outfit is coincidentally New Look "errythaaaang" proving you can get a whole outfit from visiting just one store. This is a perfect alternative to a dress for a night out as it allows room to bust any move, and we like to groove..

Jumpsuit 2 - Primark, £15

If you're into the military trend and are loving the green hue of kaki at the moment then this jumpsuit may be for you! At a bargain price of £15 from Primark, still in store now I believe, this slightly more structured jumpsuit can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion. We've paired it with chunky black sandals from H&M to be worn more casually, however we've also worn it with heels for a night on the town, it's a great choice for cocktails with the girls. The deep v neck gives it a feminine touch as well as the tie belt that nips you in at the waist, right where you want it to! It also gives the illusion of longer legs - unfortunately not all of us have endless limbs like Victoria Secret model Karlie Kloss - so we're loving this form of jumpsuit trickery!

Jumpsuit 3 - Miss Selfridge, £15 (sale)

Another bargain buy (can you tell we're students) from a classic Miss Selfridge sale, it was too hard to resist! Bold florals in spring - an obvious but a must! Yes we've watched The Devil Wears Prada and Yes we realise that according to Miranda Priestly florals in spring are not "groundbreaking" but that doesn't mean we don't love them! The cut out back detail of this jumpsuit is so fun and gives it that extra edge in contrast to the flower print! The fit is really great as it accentuates curves but would also look great on any figure! Yet again we've paired it with these chunky white sandals for a daytime look but of course you can just slip on a pair of heels and be ready to hit the town!

Jumpsuit 4 - Dorothy Perkins, £20 (sale)

Small floral print on a dark background is a great way to rock the floral trend in a more subtle way for those who are apprehensive about large amounts of pattern! The high neck detail of this jumpsuit is great if you like to cover up the chest area however the form fitting shape of the jumpsuit allows for showing off your shape. The flared detail of the trouser half fits right in with the seventies trend and this floaty style is also really fun to wear on a warm spring/summer day! This style of jumpsuit would look great paired with platforms if you're looking for height or sandals if you want to keep it casual. The pockets are also a great asset and if you're like us and enjoy a pocket on a trouser then look for a jumpsuit with this detail!

(images from pinterest)

We've added a little jumpsuit inspiration for you with these images from Pinterest! Weather your style is bold florals, classic tailoring or if you're feeling daring and want to experiment with new materials such as this denim seventies inspired ensemble below, just give it a try! Remember if you feel confident in one or even all of these styles then just go for it! Hop like the easter bunny over to the shops and jump to it!
