A Holiday in Portugal

As promised, this blog post brings you Portugal - part 2. Everyone has different ideas of what they believe is a good holiday, personally I think Albuferia had a lot to offer, whether you're on holiday with the family, your pals or a partner! Below we've featured a series of snippets from the Holiday.. reflecting back has one of us really wanting to go back ASAP but I guess South Wales will do for now..

The apartment was situated in-between New town and Old town, Albufeira, and the latter was definitely the go-to-spot day and night with the cool yet refreshing Atlantic Ocean outlining the Old town square beautifully. The area featured a sandy golden beach (where many times were spent collecting Little Mermaid style sea shells. There is also the freedom to wander upon the boulders and rocks along the cliff side to get a closer view of the wild waves. Many hours should be strolled around this idyllic area of Albufeira.

Definitely the highlight of the holiday, the ZOO-MARINE. Home to a mix of marine animals, exotic birds and water rides (oh and delicious crepes). Highly recommended for all ages, thanks to the range of attractions including the hilaaarious sea lions capturing our hearts *yes they broke/brake danced to LMFAO* It's so easy to spend an entire day here too! If you're in the area go go go!

It would be rude not to take a few hours to soak up the Portuguese sun poolside at the hotel, wouldn't it? Especially as it made exam revision much more bearable, oh the joys of university! (Apologies for the predictable 'hot dog legs' shot but, when in Albufeira..)

I will definitely be making a return to the area, visiting more attractions (like Lagos Zoo) and on the search for quaint and traditional Portuguese villages to explore!

Ciao y obrigado!

The Holiday Look Book

"If we took a holiday
Took some time to celebrate
Just one day out of life
It would be, it would be so nice"
- Madonna, Holiday

Preach it Queen Madonna. We don't know about you but whenever we hear we're going on holiday after the first question of "where is the nearest beach?" Our next one is always "OMG what are we going to pack in our holiday suitcases?". After countless wardrobe rummages and sale stalking the outfit decisions were made and the lucky pieces that made the cut were on their way to Albuferia, South Portugal. Think bold prints and bright colours. Keep scrolling for our fave holiday looks!

BLOOMING LOVELY

There is no denying that this flirty and fun dress is perfect for this season (courtesy of GingerFizz @ASOS). Bright pink floral print looks great against the navy canvas and is really flattering as it creates a panel down the middle of the body. The revealing cut outs at the back add an edge that contrasts with the high neck at the front. The back also gives you the perfect excuse to wear a chic ponytail to show off the detailing.

FEELING GREEN

This delightful mint green number ticks all the boxes from our easter style guide. As it’s floaty it was peeeerfect for the amount of carbs consumed on the beach that night, and paired with these trusted white New Look sandals and a light denim jacket, it’s a recipe for spring/summer success. As for make-up, an injection of ‘bubblegum pink’ compliments the fresh mint hue for an on point colour combo for this season. What we also love about this colour is that it is flattering on all skin tones, whether you’re an ‘English Rose’, ‘Olive Toned', or even ‘Burnt like a Lobster’, (similar to one-half of TurnerTurner above) a bright pink projects summer vibes.

WORKING LACE AND PRINT

Mixing textures can sometimes be a daunting task, it all depends on the separates you have in your wardrobe of course. However we have found a reliable partnership between a classic white lace skirt and this mixed leaf print crop top because they contrast effectively, creating a subtle boldness. A skater skirt is really easy to wear on holiday and the lace material of this skirt keeps things lightweight to suit the smoking hot climate. This ensemble looked 'beaut' against the stunning background of Albufeira Old Town beach.

MELLOW YELLOW

For a casual evening abroad you cannot go far wrong with a pair of printed trousers, especially in these lush tones of blues (clearly chosen to reflect the beautiful Atlantic Ocean of Portugal). On top of these £9.99 bargain beauties (courtesy of New Look) a sunshine yellow tank top has been added for some holiday cheerfulness, and to hopefully emphasise a sister’s attempt at a tan. Yellow is everywhere on the high street at the moment, we think this scallop trim cami is a great way of injecting it into your wardrobe. Reflecting back, the combo provides an ideal summer vibe.

Style Guide: Jump to it!

You may think that jumpsuits should only be graced by the long limbed and glamorous as they often appear quite intimidating on the clothes rails in stores. Sometimes the length of material panics us as we need this garment in particular to flatter us in all the right places! In reality until you take a jumpsuit to the changing room you'll never know if they suit you or not, it's the same as any piece of clothing in your wardrobe! We've put together a style guide of our favourite jumpsuits from our own wardrobes just to give you an idea of the different styles that are out there and how we choose to wear them! It was also a beautiful day and we couldn't resist going outside to soak up the sun, it doesn't make an appearance all too often in Britain so like the rest of the country we like to make the most of it!

Jumpsuit 1 - New Look, £19.99

As every girl knows you can never go wrong with black. It's flattering on curves and this one in particular pulls in a bit at the waist which creates that khloe kardashian silhouette that we know and love! Paired with this oriental printed kimono jacket, a classic watch and chunky sandals this simple jumpsuit is updated for spring and can be adjusted according to the season! This whole outfit is coincidentally New Look "errythaaaang" proving you can get a whole outfit from visiting just one store. This is a perfect alternative to a dress for a night out as it allows room to bust any move, and we like to groove..

Jumpsuit 2 - Primark, £15

If you're into the military trend and are loving the green hue of kaki at the moment then this jumpsuit may be for you! At a bargain price of £15 from Primark, still in store now I believe, this slightly more structured jumpsuit can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion. We've paired it with chunky black sandals from H&M to be worn more casually, however we've also worn it with heels for a night on the town, it's a great choice for cocktails with the girls. The deep v neck gives it a feminine touch as well as the tie belt that nips you in at the waist, right where you want it to! It also gives the illusion of longer legs - unfortunately not all of us have endless limbs like Victoria Secret model Karlie Kloss - so we're loving this form of jumpsuit trickery!

Jumpsuit 3 - Miss Selfridge, £15 (sale)

Another bargain buy (can you tell we're students) from a classic Miss Selfridge sale, it was too hard to resist! Bold florals in spring - an obvious but a must! Yes we've watched The Devil Wears Prada and Yes we realise that according to Miranda Priestly florals in spring are not "groundbreaking" but that doesn't mean we don't love them! The cut out back detail of this jumpsuit is so fun and gives it that extra edge in contrast to the flower print! The fit is really great as it accentuates curves but would also look great on any figure! Yet again we've paired it with these chunky white sandals for a daytime look but of course you can just slip on a pair of heels and be ready to hit the town!

Jumpsuit 4 - Dorothy Perkins, £20 (sale)

Small floral print on a dark background is a great way to rock the floral trend in a more subtle way for those who are apprehensive about large amounts of pattern! The high neck detail of this jumpsuit is great if you like to cover up the chest area however the form fitting shape of the jumpsuit allows for showing off your shape. The flared detail of the trouser half fits right in with the seventies trend and this floaty style is also really fun to wear on a warm spring/summer day! This style of jumpsuit would look great paired with platforms if you're looking for height or sandals if you want to keep it casual. The pockets are also a great asset and if you're like us and enjoy a pocket on a trouser then look for a jumpsuit with this detail!

We've added a little jumpsuit inspiration for you with these images from Pinterest! Weather your style is bold florals, classic tailoring or if you're feeling daring and want to experiment with new materials such as this denim seventies inspired ensemble below, just give it a try! Remember if you feel confident in one or even all of these styles then just go for it! Hop like the easter bunny over to the shops and jump to it!
