Canary Islands: Look book

As we've previously mentioned, we've never been die hard followers of any particular trends or brands, instead we like to experiment with various styles in order to keep things fun! Our favourite thing about going on holiday is being able to wear items of clothing (like the printed jumpsuits for example) which are really bold pieces that make a statement. We loved being able to just give our hair a spray of sea salt, a quick blow dry and then leaving the rest of it dry natural. As you can probably tell our hair and makeup routines whilst on holiday are really relaxed, because let's face it it's called a holiday for a reason, so we say leave the manual labour of foundation and contouring behind and let the glow of your tan be your base! We hope you enjoy our little look book almost as much as we enjoyed our holiday away in Gran Canaria.

Pre Holiday Prep

Aside from the obvious preparation that needs to take place before venturing abroad, there is a lot of extra work that goes into our beach ready routines that we think all girls can relate to. From choosing the perfect manicure and pedicure nail colour that will compliment our bikini's to cracking out the exfoliating gloves to ensure smoother than smooth legs for beside the pool. Although the pre holiday prep can be quite intense, we love it really as it means that the countdown to flying away for a week has come to an end! We're both off to Gran Canaria with the family tomorrow and so we've put together a little post featuring images from Pinterest which sums up what's been on our to do list.

PACKING. Some treat this task as a joy and pack weeks in advance, others despise it and leave it until last minute. Whichever packer you consider yourself to be, it does have to be done! We often start off with more than we need and then gradually filter through the mountain of strappy tops and denim shorts - that we actually don't need an abundance of for a week's holiday..

SUNCREAM. Le essentiel pour les vacances. It's a must have and incredibly important so whether you pack a few bottles in your suitcase or buy the stuff while your out there, please ensure you wear it, your skin will be super thankful!

SHAVING. A task we can often dismiss in the cold winter months becomes a constant chore in the summer. We feel your pain ladies. Wax, razor or epilator whatever your instrument, shaving before a holiday is a must for us to ensure silky smooth skin - sassy.

BROWS. You may be able to tell from pictures of us (often posted to Instagram) or from past blog posts but we are dedicated lovers of a bold brow. Lily Collins is a prime example of bold brows done right and we absolutely love her look. Saying that before a holiday we like to ensure that our eyebrows are plucked and shaped slightly more than usual to avoid those awkward white lines that you can get if you don't tend to the brows before hand. You know what we mean!

MAKE UP. On holiday we prefer to wear a lot less makeup, it allows for our skin to breathe and it's a lot less time consuming that way! We narrow down our makeup bags to the bare essentials with some added extras being bright lip colours, shimmery eyeshadows and golden bronzers to enhance our new found tans!

BOOKS. Is there anything more relaxing than getting stuck into a good book while you're lounging by the pool enjoying the sun's rays? Not a lot? No we thought so. We're big fans of John Green's books at the moment and so we're going to be reading Paper Towns and Will Grayson, Will Grayson.

MUSIC PLAYLIST. Updating our iPods and tablets with fresh summer music is always an essential. "Bills" by LunchMoneyLewis is one of our favourites at the moment and we can see it being a real hit for us this summer.

CARRY ON. Almost all of our essential and treasured items will be stored in our carry on. Obviously  the passport, tickets and currency will be your most important essentials however we don't know about you but we often fill it with a hundred other things that we hope will help entertain us during the trip..

Lastly here's Miranda Kerr showing us how effortless but stylish travel style is done! Printed trousers are our go to however we'll be opting for flat shoes and leaving the blazer at home on this occasion!

Thanks for reading! Enjoy your holidays this summer!

Hickory's by the river

One of the joy's of being northerners now (If you can classify the people of North Wales as northerners) is being down the road from great cities like Chester. Aside from the fact it has all the great high street shops and more, Chester is also absolutely, knock your socks off -  beautiful! For one, The architecture is incredible. As you walk down the cobbled streets admiring all the historical buildings it is all rather surreal, we couldn't help but take pictures!

Following a walk along the river, we decided to eat lunch at Hickory's Smokehouse, which f.y.i is one of the best restaurants we've ever been to. As soon as you are seated at a table the waiting staff are on hand with glasses of water and complimentary popcorn which is just the nicest touch! We ate The Big Pig Burgers which were pulled pork at it's best (still dreaming of it now) and washed it down with Blueberry lemonade's which were the epitome of refreshing! Their signature BBQ sauce is probably the best we've ever tasted so get your butts to your nearest restaurant to find out what you're missing! We've put together a gallery of the day, hopefully it inspires you to take a trip to Chester and to indulge in the wonderfulness that is Hickory's while you're there.
