Style Guide: Pastel Picks

It's that time of the year again, Easter is on the chocolatey horizon.. let's just take a moment to get excited.. it's exactly that which has inspired this latest post. Chocolate. Furthermore, mini eggs (the Queen B of easter time, next to the creme egg). The pastel hued shells are bang on trend and never fail to brighten up any outfit perfect for spring time. We wore the pastel shades during the winter in the form of bold oversized coats but now it's time to shed the excess material and experiment with pastels from low-key accessories to statement pieces. We've created a style guide, based on the various pastel shades that we're loving from our favourite high street retailers, just to give you guys an idea of what's out there right now!

Pastel Pink is a great alternative to white and looks just as chic when paired with the right materials and accessories. We love the way these Zara trousers have been teamed with this loose straight cut shirt, a more casual take on formal wear that can be dressed up or toned down depending on the occasion. Alternatively this pleated wrap kilt is this beautiful new shape and style of skirt. We adore how Topshop have styled this with a black leather jacket in order to mix the girly with the grunge.

Mint is quite honestly our favourite shade of green and although we genuinely love the shade for our nails a statement piece in mint green is slightly less appealing. This comes down to personal taste but that doesn't mean you can't go to town on mint green if that's what you want to do! If you've got it flaunt it in this simple yet very charming bikini set, that colour matched with a sun kissed glow is a dream we can only hope for! As far as the shoes go, who doesn't love a block heel, especially in this gorgeous shade and style. As cringe worthy as it is, these mint staples really are fresh.

Lemon yellow, granted may not be the easiest shade to pull off nor the most preferred of the bunch however we have been converted by these Zara Jeans. Teamed with a stripy double pocket shirt this look is effortlessly cool and really wearable. For those who are less inclined, this zesty little clutch bag screams spring/summer and will brighten up any outfit. The envelope style and gold detailing gives it that desirable edge without it being overpowering with zing!

Looking for a way to update your wardrobe and look just peachy this spring, then these items could be just perfect for you! This kimono inspired printed jacket from H&M would add the right amount of sass and style points to liven any dull outfit and could be paired with a dress for cocktails with the girls or denim jeans for the daytime, so versatile. Footwear just got a lot more interesting with these peach cut out brogues from New Look. We picture these adding a pop of pastel to a tailored monochrome outfit, mixing formal with playful.

Baby blue used to be only associated with baby boys however this shade is not to be forgotten when compiling pastel pieces for your wardrobe this season girls. As you know we are British and so we're famously renowned for our bad weather, this means we're rarely guaranteed sunshine nor warmth, so it's wise to invest in a coat/jacket even in the spring season. However do not fret as we have found this pale blue lightweight coat by River Island that is absolutely heavenly. As far as accessories go, look no further than this pale blue satchel from Topshop. It's petite size is perfect to carry just the essentials, and as we all know sometimes carrying a larger bag makes us carry more than we need, so strip it back to basics for this staple piece of arm candy.

Lilac is one of those hues that is extremely flattering on any skin tone. It's a great alternative to pink and looks great paired with white just like the outfit above all by Missguided. This goes for all of the pastel tones as white is a great canvas for a pop of colour while still keeping it minimal! This relaxed T-shirt looks really cool tucked into a high waisted shirt and can also be worn with a pair of skinny jeans and a leather jacket for daytime. The subtle option is to sport this ladylike rose gold and lilac Olivia Burton watch. We've lusted over this watch brand for months and the spring update is as beautiful as we expected!

Side note...

*Lupita Loving*

And even though it's not everyday occasion wear we can't think about pastel hues and not dream about Lupita Nyong'o in her Oscars '14 Dior pale blue showstopper. Everything about this was just dreamy and we think she looked blooming beautiful!
